Help make a real difference

FUNDS RAISED WILL:

• Be available to help Elders to be with community members who are dealing with cancer and its treatments. They will provide the culturally friendly support for the patient and their family. These Elders will give of their time and knowledge voluntarily but will need financial help with transport to the families in need.
• Go to helping younger people learn more of the culture so they too can learn to ‘sit with’ and share stories from the culture or from life, with the ones in need of this cultural support.
• Go to helping families support their family member having treatments away from home. This is when there is a need for transport, accommodation, food, toiletries and those things that create a cultural, homely, friendly environment.
• Help provide learning opportunities where support people can become familiar with debriefing processes as they support families through trauma and grief.
• Support young people to maintain their interest in sports when moving to the next stage in their sport requires finance to travel and play at a national level.
• Help community members develop cultural awareness learning experiences for mainstream cancer professionals, thus supporting the wider community.
